Introduction

Australia 's population is now more than 19 million. More than 100 ethnic groups are represented in Australia , making Australia one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world.

Australia has six states and two territories, which include Australian Capital Territory (ACT) , New South Wales (NSW) , Victoria (VIC), Tasmania (TAS) , Queensland (QLD) , South Australia (SA), Northern Territory (NT) and Western Australia (WA).

Australia has the third largest number of international students in the English-speaking world behind the USA and UK . In some countries Australia is the students' first choice study destination.

Australian qualifications and institutions are recognised globally for their high quality and excellence. Graduates from Australia are very successful in finding jobs and hold prominent positions worldwide. Additionally, they are readily accepted for postgraduate study at leading international universities.

Distinguishing Australia from many other countries is the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). The AQF allows students to move easily from one level of study to the next and from one institution to another as long as they satisfy student visa requirements. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) enables students to receive credit toward a qualification for knowledge and skills gained through previous study. Even if students partially complete an AQF qualification they are issued with a Statement of Attainment.
